World Book Day Workshops

Bring books and stories to life through rap, spoken word poetry, and performance.

World Book Day is all about celebrating stories and inspiring a love of reading. Our interactive workshops give pupils a fresh way to connect with books — through rap and spoken word. Pupils explore rhythm, rhyme, and storytelling while creating their own performances inspired by the characters and worlds they love.

What to Expect

In each workshop, pupils might:

📖 Explore how rap connects to storytelling and literature

✍️ Write short verses inspired by their favourite characters or themes

🎤 Perform their creations with energy and confidence

🤝 Work together to reimagine classic tales in a modern style

📚 Discover rappers who have written books and draw inspiration from their stories

Reasons To Write Rhymes

Alongside his performances and workshops, The Rap School founder Rob Bradley is also the author of Reasons To Write Rhymes — a book that encourages young people to explore creativity, self-expression, and the power of words.

In our World Book Day workshops, pupils not only create their own raps and stories, but also see how writing and performance connect in real life. Rob shares insights from his book to inspire pupils to see themselves as writers too.
